Asia Georgehiou Was Built Into It

Asia Georgehiou Was Built Into It - TOP TEN GB

For some fighters, it’s a choice.

For Asia Georgehiou, it was always there.

Growing up in Northamptonshire, surrounded by her dad’s gym and the team he built, fighting wasn’t something she found later, it was part of the environment from the start. By six years old, she was already stepping in, learning the rhythms, the discipline, and the expectations that come with it.

Now training out of Fighting Fit Kickboxing Academy under her father, Richard Phillips, that foundation hasn’t changed, it’s simply been sharpened.

Strength That Carries

In the heavyweight divisions, there’s nowhere to hide.

At +70kg, often stepping in closer to 78kg for shows, the pace may shift, but the demands don’t. Every exchange carries weight. Every decision matters.

For Asia, that’s where her edge sits.

Strength, not just physical, but in how she imposes herself on a fight.

It’s helped her build a record that speaks clearly:

  • 2nd in the world
  • Two-time World Champion
  • European Champion
  • 13x British Champion
  • Current British title holder

But like most fighters at this level, those numbers only tell part of the story.

Where It Started

One moment still stands above the rest.

Winning her first World Championship at 12 years old, her first international victory wasn’t expected. At that stage, consistency hadn’t fully arrived, and the goal was simply to make the podium.

Instead, she went all the way.

With her dad and stepmum in the corner, shouting her through every round, representing Team GB, it wasn’t just a win. It was a turning point.

The moment belief caught up with potential.

Shaped by Change

Asia didn’t build her style in a straight line.

As a younger fighter, she relied heavily on her kicks, controlling distance, staying behind her lead leg, avoiding exchanges.

Then came the shift.

Growing pains in her knees forced an adjustment. Kicking less meant finding something else and that meant building her hands.

Over time, that adaptation became an advantage.

Now, the power in her boxing is one of the things opponents notice most. What started as a limitation turned into a defining part of her game.

The Work Now

Right now, things look slightly different.

Recovering from injury means managing load, not chasing it, four to five sessions a week, listening to how the body responds, making sure the next step forward isn’t rushed.

But the mindset doesn’t change.

When she steps in, she expects to win.

Not hoping. Not waiting. Just executing.

What She Trusts

Asia has grown up with TOP TEN.

Headguard. Shin pads. Footpads, all part of her kit since she was eight or nine.

Now, she’s added the 4select leather boxing gloves to that setup, in both red and blue, and they’ve quickly become her go-to.

The reason is simple.

They last. They feel right. They don’t need thinking about.

She’s still using the same headguard she had at 14. That says enough.

Fight Day

Preparation stays simple.

Headphones in. Timing right.

That’s it.

Disrupt that timing, call her early, shift the schedule, and it changes things. But when everything lines up, there’s no noise.

Just focus.

Outside the Gym

The schedule doesn’t leave much room for idle time.

Working as a teaching assistant and sports coach in primary schools, her days run from early mornings through to evenings in the gym.

Classrooms. Coaching. Training.

Then finally, time to switch off, usually with anime, or catching up with friends when she can.

It’s a routine that keeps everything moving.

What’s Next

For now, recovery comes first.

But the intention is already there.

A return to competition.
And a return to TOTAL KOMBAT, a stage she’s already stepped onto, and one she wants to step back into.

The Position

Asia Georgehiou didn’t step into fighting late.

She grew up in it.

Built through it.
Adjusted through it.
And now competing at a level where experience, strength, and expectation all meet.

And when she steps in, there’s no doubt in her mind how it should end.
